Air Quality
Quebec ranked second out of 12 jurisdictions according to the latest common year of data in 2017. The number of particles per square kilometer in the air has shown a strong downward trend in the majority of jurisdictions studied between 1990 and 2021. Only Iceland and New Zealand experienced a marginal increase during this period. However, these two jurisdictions started from a very low point. Quebec has the second best ratio among all jurisdictions.

Methodological note
Change in variable since the previous update: from the number of poor air quality days to millions of particulates per km2, to ensure data uniformity across all 3 jurisdictions.
Source updated since the previous update: because the variable changed, the source was likewise changed.
