Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions per Capita

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions per Capita

Absolute (Megatonnes): Quebec ranked third out of 12 jurisdictions according to the latest common year of data in 2020. Greenhouse gas emissions have experienced a slight upward trend in New Zealand, Iceland, and Canada. For the remaining jurisdictions, a downward trend is observed over the study period. However, it is impressive to note the quantity of emissions produced by the United States, which is almost 80 times that of Quebec. Furthermore, Quebec is the third jurisdiction with the lowest quantity of emissions after Iceland and Finland.

Per capita (Tonnes): Quebec ranked fifth out of 12 jurisdictions according to the latest common year of data in 2020. Studying greenhouse gas emissions per capita, a downward trend is observed across all jurisdictions between 1990 and 2021. Quebec falls within the average of the jurisdictions studied.
