Housing Vacancy Rate

In Quebec and Canada, the housing vacancy rate experienced a significant decrease between 1990 and 2022, leading to greater difficulties in finding housing. In contrast, Ontario saw a slight increase during the studied period. A marked increase in housing vacancy was observed during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this increase was temporary, as the vacancy rate returned to its pre-pandemic levels in 2022.
