Protected Areas
Quebec ranked fifth out of 11 jurisdictions according to the latest common year of data in 2022. The area of protected areas is increasing for Quebec, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and Japan. In the case of Germany, Italy, Finland, Iceland, and New Zealand, stability in protected area size can be observed. Finally, the United States is the only jurisdiction experiencing a downward trend. Quebec is well-positioned with one of the largest areas protected among the jurisdictions studied.
